Hebrews 13:5-6 gives you a wonderful promise. “God has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?’” Ed Dobson, the former dean of Liberty University, developed ALS and when his disease progressed he learned to take five-minute timeouts. Whenever fear would begin taking over his life, he would repeat Hebrews 13:5-6. He shares that they were the first words that he would say in the morning and the last words he looked at before going to bed. It is what sustained him. They were God’s special portion for him. Maybe you need a few verses that you can memorize and claim each day to sustain and encourage you. My 99 year old spiritual mom has posted some of her favorite verses on her wall in the hospital and she says them every morning and night. She is claiming God’s promises. Are you?
