Box 85 paulpatstock.bigfoot.com Facts About Pakistan --Pakistan is an Islamic Republic The Stocks' Work Paul and Pat work with the Church of Pakistan to evangelize and disciple Hindu tribal peoples in the southern province of Sindh. The tribal people are despised and considered "untouchables" by the Muslims and caste Hindus. Many tribal people are being drawn to Jesus' teaching and have been baptized. Paul works at the Audio Visual Center, Rattanabad. He works with a team of 8 workers to develop Christian resources that are culturally relevant to the tribal peoples, such as Bible study materials, songs in the various tribal languages, health primers, and wedding and funeral ceremonies, which adapt traditional rites for Christian use. They also have an evangelistic team, doing outreach to Hindu villages using indigenous music, dance, and drama. Pat is working with local women and children in Bible teaching and discipleship, as well as home schooling Joel and Jodie. Paul was born and raised in Pakistan, the son of Presbyterian missionaries, Fred and Margie Stock, who have served in Pakistan for almost 50 years. During his years at Westmont College, Paul studied for a year in Israel and then took a year off to live in a tribal village in Pakistan. Later, he attended Fuller Theological Seminary, spending his second year at Union Biblical Seminary in India. After receiving a Masters of Divinity, he went to Pakistan as a Volunteer in Mission with the Presbyterian Church (USA). After he married Pat, they joined InterServe, and have been working together in Pakistan for 16 years. Paul is now ordained with the Church of Pakistan, part of the Worldwide Anglican Communion. Pat grew up in Virginia and North Carolina. Raised in the Episcopal Church, she came to a deeper faith at Duke University, where she received a BA in Religion. After university, she did relief work with Food for the Hungry in the Cambodian refugee camps in Thailand. Upon returning to the US, she worked for three years with World Relief doing refugee resettlement. Feeling called to permanent work overseas, Pat joined Youth with a Mission, working in Tonga and China before coming to Pakistan, Paul and Pat met in Pakistan, were married in 1988, and as a couple joined InterServe in 1991. Elisha, 15 years old, Ashley, 13, and Joel, 9, were all born in Pakistan. Jodie, 5, was born in Hunan, China.
