First-Time Visitors - Who We Are

History

Early in 1946, a small group of Christians started meeting for worship and fellowship at a ranch house in Granada Hills. The Granada Hills community was rather small in those years, the population numbering around 2,500 people. That little band of believers eventually requested the Presbytery of Los Angeles to form a steering committee for the purpose of becoming a Presbyterian congregation. On August 10, 1947, the church was chartered as the Granada Hills Memorial Church. Rev. Alfred McNair became our first pastor. A lot has changed in the fifty years since: the community has grown a great deal, the church has changed its name (1955), pastors have come and gone, and new buildings have been built. In the midst of all the changes, one thing has remained constant: the Gospel has been preached and demonstrated.

Today we are a growing congregation of over 700 members with an eye on the future. Whatever happens in the next sixty years, we are going to be here!
