Missions - Local Mission Outreach
To supplement funding provided directly by First Pres., the Social Concerns Ministry raises funds to support its outreach efforts in two additional ways: the Hunger Bank collections and the annual Spring Dinner/Auction. We encourage your support of these two activities.
Hunger Bank Collection
Two or three times a year, the Ministry takes a Hunger Bank Collection during Sunday services. Your Hunger Bank can be any container - including formal Hunger Banks provided free by our Ministry - in which you accumulate loose change, ‘found’ currency, or dedicated contributions. Hunger Bank funds are used primarily to purchase food and supplies needed for the Thursday evening meals we serve at Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission.
Spring Dinner/Auction
Another principal source of funding is from a dinner and auction that the Ministry members present each spring. Attractive goods and services donated by members of the congregation and by local businesses in our community are auctioned during a pleasant sit-down dinner.
