Willing Weekday Workers (WWW) was established in 1992, as a result of a request by the Time and Talents Commission (TTC) Head asking members for ideas to improve fellowship among church members. Jim Yoder, a member of TTC, recommended that we put retired church members and attendees to work on maintenance around the church plant one or two mornings a month. The idea was approved and WWW was born under Jim's direction. WWW now falls under the Property Commission. Jim is still directing the activities and Dick Kinsman is assisting him. Before he retired from WWW, Bernie Norsworthy was Jim's assistant. |

In the past WWW has completed such tasks as painting closet doors in Fellowship Hall (FH), cleaning and painting the FH stove, trimming trees, cleaning gutters, raking leaves, and pulling weeds. WWW members have painted the outside of Fellowship Hall (FH), scrubbed and painted the kitchen in FH, painted inside the sanctuary, moved and rebolted pews, repaired sprinklers and pipes, dug weeds, raked leaves, etc. At present WWW is comprised of several of our church members who are either retired or have a half day to donate to the church once a month. WWW welcomes women on our work crews. We meet on the morning of the second Tuesday of the month at Fellowship Hall to take care of maintenance around the Church and the Weekday School.
| Volunteering as a WWW also is a good way to get to know your fellow church goers. Working on WWW jobs is very satisfying, as we have heard from some of the fellows that their wives wonder why they would rather go to the church to work rather than do their chores at home. There are also fringe benefits to being a WWW, among them we get free donuts and coffee. Once in-a-while we are even served a free lunch. | ![]() |

Often something humorous happens while we are working. We were raking leaves on a windy day. Gene Anderson said, "why rake leaves when the wind is blowing?" Jack Sharp responded, "we need to give the leaves that are still on the tree a place to fall." On another day, Joe Janda was putting the finishing touches on cement that was poured around the flag pole. We noted to Joe that he had multiple talents of dentistry and cement finishing. He said that is not so amazing. "After all," he said, "the hole around the flag pole is just like a big cavity." We work, but we also have fun. The fellowship is enjoyable.
| We thank those who have participated in the past and who are currently WWW members and invite anyone who is not currently a WWW to call Jim Yoder at 818-363-0249 and volunteer. You do not have to be a member to help. Also, it is not necessary to be there every time a work day is scheduled. We realize that many of you have busy schedules as retirees. Any time that you can show up, it is much appreciated. We will be waiting for your call. | ![]() |
